The Annual Poem for Golferst A Blast!
In My Hand I Hold A Ball,
White And Dimpled...Rather Small.
Oh, How Bland It Does Appear,
This Harmless Looking Little Sphere.
By Its Size I Could Not Guess
The Awesome Strength It Does Possess.
But Since I Fell Beneath Its Spell,
I've Wandered Through The Fires Of Hell.
My Life Has Not Been Quite The Same
Since I Chose To Play This Stupid Game.
It Rules My Mind For Hours On End;
A Fortune It Has Made Me Spend.
It Has Made Me Curse And Made Me Cry,
And Hate Myself And Want To Die.
It Promises Me A Thing Called Par,
If I Hit It Straight And Far.
To Master Such A Tiny Ball,
Should Not Be Very Hard At All.
But My Desires The Ball Refuses,
And Does Exactly As It Chooses.
It Hooks And Slices, Dribbles And Dies, And Disappears Before My Eyes.
Often It Will Have A Whim,
To Hit A Tree Or Take A Swim.
With Miles Of Grass On Which To Land,
It Finds A Tiny Patch Of Sand.
Then Has Me Offering Up My Soul,
If Only It Would Find The Hole.
It's Made Me Whimper Like A Pup,
And Swear That I Will Give It Up.
And Take To Drink To Ease My Sorrow,
But The Ball Knows ... I'll Be Back Tomorrow.
FINAL GOLF SWING AFTER 80+ YEARS OF EXPERIMENTING
Why golf? Started caddying as a youngster and discovered nothing was more delightful then golf. At age 96, it has kept me physically activated, even if physically and mentally diminished, can still be done and enjoyed, regardless of scoring ability. It is the always the bonding with fellow players and the beauty of the golf course.
Since my caddying days I have endeavored to master and simplify the golf swing. I have taken lessons from the worlds top golf teachers. All advice garnered became eventually never automatic and fool proof.
So, being an athlete from my birth (so to speak), I decided about 10 years ago that throwing a ball or rock or hitting a ball with a bat, required the same type of bodily movement. So, what part of the body and its muscles and abs, etc., required the same type of movement for starting and finishing the golf swing.
I experimented with every moving aspect of the body (left and right), the knees, the arms, the shoulders, the chest, the stomach, and the right hip. None after considerable trial were done naturally and each eventually evaporated.
So, very recently, I decided to study the natural best golfing reaction muscles. Lo and behold, never had ever even dreamed to try, it never making a fig-eon of sense to me to try, using the strong muscles of the left hip.
Begin swing by turning the left hip away from the target. But, always keeping that target mentally in mind during the entire take away and during the down swing and determines the distance you want the ball to go to get to the target. The left hip, still aiming at the target finishes the down swing. For extra distance hinge the wrist also after the start of the back swing.
What does this swing do to improve the golf swing? It considerable improves by adding distance, “lag” and keeping the shaft on “plane” for accuracy. Please Google “lag” and “plane” for what they mean to golf.
STANCE: Normal, but put a bit more weight on the left foot so that the left hip is shoved at the target and the spine is then automatically tilted a bit to the right and then this swing will keep your head in place, not going forward, the whole swing.
SWING: For men, like throw a ball, for women, like slapping—the same muscles that are activated by starting the left hip movement. But, remember, I was a lawyer and not Doctor in this muscle involvement. So, fingers crossed, even though it is the final swing for me.
Hope this helps you get to sleep.
